Summary: In recent years, the massive Internet of Things has emerged as an important field of
research. Research in this area aims to deal with the challenge of achieving the full
convergence of technologies and IT services, in order to facilitate connectivity,
accessibility and control of devices in an environment with a huge volume of
heterogeneous IoT devices, in order to enable and expanding generic Internet of Things
solutions on a global scale. In this new scenario, applications may require a particular
arrangement of Things (Things) as an important part of their solution. However, the
selection of devices that meet the criteria of functionality, capacity and state demanded
by the applications, composing a higher level and dynamic structure, capable of defining
a particular scenario or even a domain of interest, still demonstrate to be a problem of
open search. In this sense, this work proposes the development of an infrastructure for
building scenarios in a massive Internet of Things environment. The research includes a
systematic study of the literature, the result of which pointed to the use of ontologies in
IoT and the design and implementation of a conceptual architecture that supports the
generation of a simulation environment, the selection of devices and their composition in
scenarios of highest level based on semantic descriptions. The experiments carried out
showed that the proposed architecture facilitates the interaction with a massive IoT
environment, simplifying the construction of applications and reducing the fragmentation
existing in this environment.
